It is with great sadness that we have to report that Dan Docherty passed away on 9th December 2021. His memory lives on through this website, his articles, videos, podcasts and in the hearts, minds and teaching of his many students and friends throughout the world.
If you are looking for a teacher in this style, then please visit “Where to Learn” “Instructor Listings” page as although this is not being kept up to date it will provide contact details for a number of his main students.
The PTCCI practitioners Facebook page is useful should you have questions.
HOT
When I signed up for martial arts in 1971, shortly before having a private audience with Pope Paul VI, at his summer residence at Castel Gandolfo, I found it was a lot of fun to dress up in white cotton jim jams and cloth belt to train with all kinds of people in all kind of places; always especially liked the hot and the humid.
People like ex-sailor, 'Chalky' Whitehouse, who loved practicing nunchaku, but who was so bad at it, he had to wear a motor cycle helmet to protect his head. He had great stories like when he visited Singapore and found out the hard way how you can take the lady boy out of Bugis Street but if you want more, it's always better not to use Barclaycard. I visited Bugis Street with Cheng Tin-hung and other members of the Hong Kong Kung Fu team in 1976 when we were in Singapore for the 4th SE Asian Chinese full contact Championships. It was hot and humid. After no sex or alcohol for 100 days, the 'girls' began to look strangely attractive...
When I was last in Singapore I met up with TCC cousin and old chum, Michael Ngiam. The Raffles Hotel is still there full of freemasons drinking Singapore Gin Slings, but Bugis Street is now an air conditioned shopping mall and metro station. It ain't hot no more. Most of the lady boys have had the operation by now and are probably married to freemasons. Sic transit gloria mundi.
Had a great time on the isle of La Reunion. It was their hot and humid winter, but none of the locals seemed sweaty. I went to a few bars; quite a few hot exotic babes, but no lady boys.
In fact, I've spent just one full day at home from 18 October till I returned last night from Northern Israel - 3 days training with the excellent crew led by Shay, Matan & Tsury. With 2 new certificated teachers, Avi & Ellen the Ukrainian. Dov even took a day off from his honeymoon to attend and taste Laphroiag for the first time. Lady boys couldn't cut it there; the dry heat would ruin their complexions. I listened to Judge Dread's moving lady boy song 'The Winkle Man' with the Israels. A moving end to a great trip.
Oh tis my delight on a shiny night and a foggy night as well.
